19th - 25th September
Sponsored by TreeSurv Woodland Management
Tree Hugging Week was a great success and we'd like to say a huge thanks to all of the individuals, schools and groups who organised a hug. We'll be updating this page with details of how much money has been raised and how many people took part.
Tree Hugging Week - What Was It All About?
For the last fifteen years it has been Borders Forest Trust’s mission to look after our local woodlands and the wildlife that lives in them. To keep on doing that, we need your help!
As part of our 15th Anniversary fundraising appeal we’re holding the first-ever Borders Tree Hugging Week, from 19th to 25th September. To take part all you need to do is pledge to hug 50 trees (it could be 50 different trees or the same 5 trees hugged ten times!) and then find people to sponsor you. We provide all the information you’ll need to hold an event, including guidelines and sponsorship forms – available as a pack or to download below. Our Education Officer Anna Craigen is happy to advise on suitable woodlands if you are unsure where to hold your event.
Why hug a tree?
Trees provide an important habitat for wildlife!
Trees produce the oxygen that we breathe!
Woodlands are a place we can go for relaxation or for fun!
It’s easy to take part in Tree Hugging Week and all funds raised will go towards Borders Forest Trust’s work to conserve, restore and manage native woodlands for the benefit of people and wildlife. It’s the Borders’ first ever Tree Hugging Week and we hope in years to come it’ll go Scotland-wide, if not worldwide! We’re very grateful to Treesurv (www.treesurv.co.uk), the Borders-based woodland management company who are sponsoring this year’s Tree Hugging Week.

Thank you and happy tree hugging!
