Wood Pasture Seminar

The Borders Forest Trust Wood Pasture Seminar was held on 15 September 2007 at the Country Hotel in Selkirk. It was attended by over 40 landowners, farmers, foresters, conservationists and land managers from lowland Scotland and North England. The seminar was opened by Sir Michael Strang Steel, a local landowner of Philiphaugh Estate who has participated in the BFT Wood Pasture Project. This was followed by the following presentations about the history and ecological value of the Wood Pasture habitat and current conservation projects to maintain and regenerate areas of Wood Pasture.

Site visits in the afternoon enabled delegates to see a number of Borders Forest Trust Wood Pasture sites at the Selkirk Deer Park, St Mary's Loch, Mount Benger and Laidlawsteil.
