This larch was one of the first to be planted in Scotland, and is one of the few of its age to be still surviving. Still growing well in a field next to the gardens it was planted by Sir James Nasmyth of Posso who was visiting his friend, the Laird of Kailzie, at the time

Access

Kailzie gardens can be found on the B7062 between Peebles and Innerleithen and the larch is approximately 200 m south east of the car parking area. The gardens are open all year round with times varying with the season:

  • 10am to 5.30pm from April to October
  • 11am to 5pm from November to March

In addition to the extensive gardens at Kailzie there are a number of other attractions including an osprey interpretation centre, fishing, an 18 hole putting green and a tearoom/restaurant (open throughout the day).
