  • Height: 28m
  • Diameter: 207cm
  • Age: 300 - 360 years
  • Grid Ref: NT 829 404

Info

Although experts suggest an age of 300 - 360 years, the story goes that this tree was planted to commemorate those who died in the Battle of Flodden in 1513. The trunk of the tree is huge, supporting a set of equally large branches. Old chains, used in the past to stabilise the tree, can be seen hanging from some of the upper branches along with some more recent wires installed with the same intention.
