With its roots holding onto the steep banking the Glenkinnon Oak is still growing well after 300 years. Although now surrounded by trees its shape indicates a different past, its widely branching crown suggesting that it grew in open land.

Access

From Peebles direction: Drive towards Galashiels on the A72. When you get to the Nest roundabout before Clovenfords take the right hand exit. Follow the road down and right, over the bridge. About 200 metres after the bridge, on the left hand side, is the Forestry Commission car park. Glenkinnon Oak is on the east side of the car park.

From Galashiels direction: Drive towards Peebles on the A72.

At the Nest roundabout, after Clovenfords, take the left exit. Follow the road down and right, over the bridge. About 200 metres after the bridge, on the left hand side, is the Forestry Commission car park. Glenkinnon Oak is on the east side of the car park.
