Corehead High Camp, 14th-15th May

Corehead High Camp

Saturday 14th – Sunday 15th May 2016

This will be the first planting High Camp we have run at Corehead and we are re-introducing montane scrub into our Lochan Burn valley.

We’ll meet at the black barn at Corehead at 9.30am and hike up to Whitehope Knowe through the native woodland planted in the Tweedhope valley. The walk takes around 1hr30mins and is fairly strenuous but in most cases it’s a gentle climb. Again hill fitness and good quality hill and camping gear is essential. After we’ve set up camp we’ll drop down into the planting area and start putting in a mix of Juniper and Dwarf Birch. It will be the same again on Sunday after a restful night before heading back to the black barn in the afternoon.
